Who She Is
Layla is just like your grumpy grandma who wants to eat her snacks, watch her programs, and nap all day. A queen at heart, she likes to have things her way and has no problem expressing her dismay through a myriad of disapproving looks. When she’s not judging you, she enjoys chin scratches and basking in the sun…. and, well… that’s about all we’ve found that she enjoys. She can become overstimulated quite easily by new people, children, other animals, and lively households, which leads to hyperesthesia flare ups and acne breakouts, so it’s important she finds a calm, relaxing home without too much activity. When she’s in this kind of environment, Layla can be loving, affectionate, and even playful (which is absolutely adorable to watch!)
Layla’s Story
Layla stumbled up to a neighbors porch in the summer of 2023 desperately trying to drink from their dogs water dish. She was severely dehydrated, starving, had an upper respiratory infection, her eyes were crusted shut, and she was barely strong enough to walk. With a little time and proper medical care, she has blossomed into a gorgeous, spunky girl and is now looking for the perfect forever home, where she can be treated like the queen she was always meant to be.
Medical Needs
Layla has hyperesthesia and requires Gabapentin orally twice a day. She also gets acne periodically and needs a topical cream applied to her chin twice daily during outbreaks. We have found both of these conditions quite easy to manage and Layla is used to receiving her medications. Layla’s right eye sometimes weeps due to an old injury, but she can see just fine and it does not require any kind of treatment.
Adoption
Layla has had her spay surgery, rabies vaccine, deworming, flea treatment, and she tested FIV/FeLV negative, so she’s ready to find her forever home!
Her adoption fee is $75.
She is currently fostering in Waynesville, NC but can be transported to our second location in Winston-Salem, NC for a meet and greet with the right person. Salem’s Sanctuary does in-state adoptions only.
